Big as life. Your life, that is.
The first thing you'll notice about the new Columbus is its size. From any angle, two things are clear: this is one big airplane, and it is by far the biggest Citation ever. But make no mistake about it. The Columbus was conceived with all the DNA that makes a Citation a Citation: The straightforward, intuitive systems. The impressive performance capabilities. The mission flexibility. The ease of handling. The countless commonalities shared with other Citation models. And a long list of additional distinctions that contribute to the customer-focused essence of every Citation we've ever built. It's all there.
Arrive in style.
Approaching the runway, the Columbus will be supported on a larger-than-ever dual-wheel, steer-by-wire nose gear. Travelers will find themselves poised well above the great majority of other business aircraft, while enjoying a ramp presence that speaks volumes without saying a word.
Exceptional aerodynamics.
Years ago, Cessna pioneered the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in general aviation to isolate any and every point relevant to airflow across the surface of our aircraft, and then gauge the effects of even the smallest changes in contour. Today, Columbus engineers use the most advanced incarnation of CFD along with other state-of-the-art analytical tools to create an aerostructure shaped and formed to achieve the best of all possible performance combinations – the highest speeds with the least amount of drag and the greatest efficiency.
Superior size.
With a total length of 77 feet (23.4 m) and a wingspan of 80 feet (24.3 m), the magnitude of the Columbus is apparent even from a distance.
