Engine
Suddenly, the CJ legend is running on fast-forward.
The CJ4 combines aerodynamic enhancements and a Williams FJ44-4A engine to produce exceptional performance benefits. Each state-of-the-art powerplant generates 3,400 pounds (15.12 kN) of thrust. Max payload is 2,100 pounds (953 kg). And full-fuel payload tips in at an even 1,000 pounds (454 kg). Even more good news: At maximum takeoff weight, the CJ4 will lift off on as little as 3,300 feet (1,006 m) of runway. And it needs only 2,665 feet (812 m) to land. The CJ4 will also climb directly to 43,000 feet (13,106 m) in just 28 minutes. And cruise at 435 knots (806 km/hr) with speed to spare. So if you're itching to join the 500-mph club, we've got your membership card right here. But speed isn't the CJ4's only big story: This aircraft is built for range, too. With its NBAA IFR 100 nm reserve, you can travel 1,825 nautical miles (3,380 km) before single-point refueling.
As with all CJs, the CJ4 is designed to be so easy to fly that it's slated for single-pilot certification. Pilot workload is reduced through the addition of full-authority digital engine controls (FADEC), which simplify engine control and operation.
